BIO:

Bryan Trainor (b. 1998, Denver, CO), is a self-taught oil painter based in Austin, Texas. My work explores the relationship between the human body, its environments, and the passage of time, using the figure to investigate themes of movement, memory, and decay. Offering a view of the quiet entanglement between ourselves and the environments we often mistake as separate.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

On a technical front, I’m interested in how multifigure compositions respond to light, tension, and context, walking the line between realism and abstraction. Through layered mark-making and shifts in color temperature, I aim create surfaces that remain open to revision and interpretation through varied and changing narratives.

I approach painting as an ongoing exploration. I’m fascinated by how visual decisions such as (form, value, palette) can express shared instability, vulnerability, and transformation. My work is rooted in process and continues to evolve, engaging in visual conversations with art history and larger contemporary events.

I also stream my painting process live on Twitch, sharing an unfiltered look at how each piece comes together—from rough starts to final marks. I aim to create a space for honest exploration, mistakes, and the raw side of making art.
